Fundable.org - looking to raise money for a good cause? Fundable.org allows you to get pledges from contributors. No money is exchanged until the goal is reached so it's an easy alternative to fun runs and other fundraisers. Fundable lets groups of people pool money to make purchases or raise money. Share a subscription, collect money for a wedding, support Paranormal research, pay for your dog's broken leg - if nothing else it's interesting reading what others are collecting for. If you are a 401(c) non-profit, we'll even sponsor you to get your new website.
Not sure whether to upgrade to Windows Vista or not? Thinking of getting it pre-installed on a new machine? This is a fun and long video enumerating the pros and cons by Chris Pirillo of Lockergnome. - His advice? Wait. Apparently Hewlett Packard, nVidia, Quickbooks and others have not jumped on the bandwagon yet, making it difficult to get many peripherals and programs working. Our advice? Wait if possible or buy it preinstalled with all the software and hardware you need (let your computer builder deal with the headaches!).

I know you've heard the term Blog - but what IS it? Blog is short for Web Log - Think of a blog as sort of a public diary with a purpose. Some people blog their innermost thoughts, but blogging can also be an easy way to keep your business website current. It doesn't have to contain personal information - it can contain information about your business, business news, sales, or current events affecting your industry.
A blog is easy to use - you log in over the Internet from your browser. Most are quite flexible allowing you to upload photos and sometimes even video. You can post trends in your industry, let visitors know about new products, or provide information about your services beyond the basic information that's always there on your website. We can incorporate it right into a website page.
A Blog is an easy way to add new content to a website to keep it current and interesting. Adding content through a Blog entry is free too - you don't have to pay the web developer every time you want to add something new!
The next time you decide to have a sale or tell the world something from your website - get Blogging! |

Avast Virus Scanner - just what it says - a great free scanner.
Yahoo Widgets! I have several on my desktop including the Acura RDX Traffic maps (tells you where construction is going on, accidents, and just slow traffic), the Motown Web cam (watch traffic in real-time on local freeways - SEE the weather conditions and traffic backups), GasWatch (tells me the lowest station prices for gas in my area), and Yahoo Stock Ticker (keeps tracks of the ups & downs in the market as well as specific stocks you enter). There are hundreds of widgets in the widget gallery - some practical, some fun, and some just plain silly. They sit on your desktop and when you are online give you constant feedback.
I love them - sure you will too - and they are FREE! You just download the program then choose from hundreds of widgets to use with the main program. |

Don't give into your dog and give him something else if he refuses his meal - if you do, he's training you and not the other way around. There's nothing wrong with giving your dog a varied diet, but don't keep changing foods only because he's fussy. If you need help with dog behavior problems - check out the http://caninewhisperer.com. |

Clean up your PC! Sometimes the cause of slowness and crashes can be the leftover files lying around on your hard drive. But that's easy to fix. Just do a Search for Files & Folders and put this in the search field: *.chk *.tmp
This removes old temporary files and files that were leftover when windows didn't start properly. Once they are found, delete them and your PC will run better and faster.
Take the time once a month to clean out old files you no longer need from your computer. It will run faster and better. Old temporary files can even cause crashes and lockups so get rid of them! Always run a system restore point before deleting any files - just in case. An excellent program for taking out the trash is Webroot's Window Washer. For only $29.95 it finds and removes all kinds of accumulated trash - I use it on all of my computers.
If you have a problem you can't solve, and live in the Livingston county area, we can help. Visit us on the web at Computerwiz.biz for everything we do that's computer related. |
