The Versitile Shopping Cart

Many Clients say,' but I don't need a shopping cart because I don't sell products', or 'my business is a service'. What most don't realize is your business may still be able to use a shopping cart in a non-traditional manner.  If you are looking for a way to make your site interactive there are many ways you can creatively use a "shopping cart" to improve customer service and make your site quite user friendly to bring in more business. You can:

  • Sell Products Online (of course)
  • Collect Donations
  • Take Literature Requests
  • Download Items
  • Take service requests
  • Book Events
  • Allow your customers to login and make choices (such as choosing music for a wedding reception or product choices for an interior decorator)
  • Instant Gift Certificates for products or services
  • Take Subscriptions
  • Take Online Payments
  • Track Inventory online between remote locations
  • Provide a Wish list for your customers
  • Collect Customer contact information
  • and more...

Actually, shopping carts are more versatile than you may think.  All shopping carts have a "storefront" which is accessed by your website visitors and an "Administration" area that is only accessible by the website owner.  Shopping carts are either installed on your own hosting, or can be hosted elsewhere as a service.

We provide a large selection of cart software to make sure you get a cart that fits your specific needs.  We often use Zen Cart, Word Press, Joomla, osCommerce, Comersus, Mals-E, Squirrel and many other open source options because they provide ongoing support at reasonable cost.  A shopping cart doesn't have to be expensive and can improve the click through and use rate of your website more than any site improvement.  You'll reap the advantages of better customer service and easily changed products and content. Carts often include a content management system so that you can make changes to some of the pages of your website yourself as well.

We'll help you choose the right software for your situation, develop a powerful message, provide proven design, and reliable maintenance.  We guarantee you'll be satisfied with our work or we'll make it right. We promise to

  • make changes quickly and accurately
  • build your website on-time and to your specifications
  • and improve your web site's usability and content for visitors and search engines.

What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is where you sell other's products on your website for a commission - it can be very profitable or a total waste of time.  If you want to consider this route, do your research and stick with well known, respected products and Affiliate marketers.  There are several different ways to make money with affiliate programs.

1. Pay Per Sale (PPS) -  When promoting programs, products or services on a pay per sale basis, you, the affiliate only earns money when a sale is made through an affiliate link. Usually the money earned is a percentage of the total sale, and this is called the affiliate commission.

 2. Pay Per Click (PPC) - A pay per click affiliate program usually involves some sort of advertising. Instead of recommending specific products and services, you simply put advertisements on your website or in your email newsletter. When visitors or readers click an ad, you a small amount of money.

 3. Pay Per Lead (PPL) - Pay Per Lead affiliate programs are popular because you as an affiliate, can make money just by giving away something free. There is no sale involved, and the affiliate referral commissions pay quite well.

 4. Pay Per Action (PPA) -  With a pay per action affiliate program, your job is to get the targeted visitors to take a specific action. Sometimes that action is to buy something, sometimes it's just requesting free information. Often the visitors have to take a survey or sign up for an email list. Once the action is performed, the affiliate earns a commission.

Affiliate marketing done right can earn you a good monthly income.  Done wrong, you'll waste a lot of time and effort.  It's important research and find the best payout method and products for your website or newsletter to reap the best Affiliate profits.

Uses for Twitter (what's twitter?)

Those of us who are daily Twitter users already know the power of the application and it's potential. But many just don't understand how to use it or realize it's potential power for their business. These suggestions were taken from an article by  Kalena Jordan to help you unleash the power of Twitter for business. Twitter is actually quite simple to use. You send messages from your phone or website and whoever follows you gets them. That simple.  Some other ways to promote your business with Twitter?
1) Community Help Desk - Have computer problems? Ask a fellow twitterer and you might find a solution. Or to promote your business, tweet common problems and solutions.
2) Live Tutorials - you could create a new Twitter account with protected updates and ask invitation-only participants to follow you. Then you could hold a *closed* webinar at a pre-arranged time using Twitter for delivery instead of expensive webinar solutions. Twitter allows you to live chat, post links, photos, videos, audio files and text so there is no need for any plug-ins.
3) Free Market Research -  Just send a link, a free sample or a short survey to your followers and ask for feedback on a new product or idea.
4) Online Reputation Management - Twitter is ideal for tracking what people are saying about you, your company or your product. You can use Twitter Search to enter keywords or hash tags. Or you can use purpose-built widgets such as TweetBeep which work just like Google Alerts and send you regular emails containing any discussions involving your chosen Twitter accounts or search phrases.
5) Laugh a Day / Therapy - Everyone needs a laugh a day - subscribe to fun tweets and bookmark your favoites.
6) Competitions - Companies like Zappos and Hand Bag Heaven have been holding competitions on Twitter for a while now. You basically elicit a response from your followers in exchange for the chance to win something. You could ask a question about one of your products or ask followers to find something on your site to win a gíft certificate.
7) Virtual Alarm Clock - You can use Twitter to set appointment reminders for yourself or others. Tools such as the Retweet Timer and Twittercal tweet events from your Google Calendar as @replies to your Twitter profile at pre-set dates and times.
8) Fine Tune your Business Plan -  Tapping into the combined brain power of your Twitter community is a great way to get idea feedback and improve your business plan.
9) Competitor Tracking - You can use Twitter to monitor the activities of  competitors without alerting them. Follow your competitors and hear what they are saying about you.
10) Become Your Favorite Character - Ever idolize a particular movie star or TV character?I'm a fan of Pushing Daises and the characters from the show tweet various character responses.  It's a great way to find out what your favorite fan club is doing.
11) Scavenger Hunts - With it's 140 character limit, Twitter is the perfect medium to deliver clues for online and offline scavenger hunts.
12) Live Presentation Aid - Tweet live to your website. I did this recently as my puppies were being born. I could update my website from my cell phone and keep everyone updated on the progress of labor and the eventual c-section and puppies.
13) Get Help Have a small problem someone else might know the answer to?  Ask on Twitter.
14) Build a Twitter Application - Attention all geeks - there is a need for Twitter applications. Become the next Bill Gates by building the perfect Twitter app. The rest of us will love you for it!
